DIFFERENTIATED NEUROPROTECTIVE THERAPY IN THE ACUTE PERIOD OF ISCHEMIC STROKE

Background. The aim of the work is to determine the efficiency of the ischemic stroke therapy in the acute period by the combination of three neuroprotective drugs – cytoflavin, actovegin and gliatilin.
Materials and methods. The authors estimated the neurological deficiency dynamics by the NIHSS scale during the acute period of ischemic stroke in patients treated by the combined neuroprotective therapy compared to standard treatment. The researchers also studied indicators of free-radical processes (chemiluminescence), inflammation markers (C-reactive protein) in blood and independence in the every day life according to the Barthel index of patients when discharged from hospital.
Results. The authors revealed the advantages of the combined neuroprotective therapy of ischemic stroke that were expressed by the decrease of mortality of patients, by faster regression of neurological deficiency, by lesser dependency of patients on people around, by a more apparent antioxidant effect by the chemiluminescence indicators. The researchers pointed out good tolerance to the used neuroprotective drugs.
Conclusions. The work results prove the efficiency of combining such neuroprotective drugs as cytoflavin, actovegin and gliatilin in treatment of ischemic stroke in the acute period.
